Model BoaT
When I was 8 years old, my sisters and I loved boats so our next project became building a small motor boat. We started right away. We looked for motors and, after a day of searching, we finally found the motor we wanted. Mine had to be the fastest! My dad helped us cut the pieces that supported the motor, switch, and batteries. Once we were done we drilled a hole through the back of the boats for the propellers. After the propellers were installed, we moved on to painting. Because I loved the movie Cars, I chose to make my boat resemble Lightning McQueen, complete with a lighting bolt on each side. I painted the top my favorite color, orange, and insisted on putting my name all over the boat. I gave the boat a final touch of sparkly purple paint, which my two-year-old sister begged me to use. (I was such a good brother!) When it came time to test the boats, I went first. I was wowed by how fast my boat sped across the pond. It went a surprising 5 mph which is really fast when you are in a local pond. My 5-year-old sister's boat went about 2 mph. My youngest sister's boat couldn’t keep up with ours but still made it to the other side. I would like to build an even faster boat one day, but I have at least 42 other projects I must complete first.
